In this blog we will be discussing the gaming app of.... Roblox

There are many different gaming apps that are used for all different types of activities. I am a very big fan of gaming apps because it helps me focus on something other than my everyday obligations. I especially love games that have a mission and that keep you wanting to find out more. One of the apps that I discovered through my little sister is called Roblox.

Roblox's Mission

Roblox follows their mission by allowing anyone to imagine, create, and have fun with friends as they explore millions of immersive 3D experiences, all built by a global community of developers.

Description

Roblox has many different types of games. As mentioned above, some of these games can be created by the users themselves. One of the games that users like to play in particular are games that are in a form of a tycoon. I got to experience Roblox a few years ago with my little sister. She mentioned that Roblox was visually similar to Minecraft but different in the way that Roblox has different games and servers that the users can go into to play. Tycoon is the form of games that we would play because we had the chance to build our own company. It could be a pizza place or a wand factory. We would have to earn enough money to build the factory up from the foundation to the roof and eventually sell more items to make more money (virtual money of course). One of the games that we also found ourselves playing a lot in Roblox was called Natural Disaster Survival. In this game, we would have to find shelter and a random natural disaster would happen and we would have to run away from it and be one of the last survivors in order to win. I have attached a video below to show how this specific game works. I have also attached screen shots of the app itself and the games it has to offer. The intended audience for Roblox is anyone 13+ years of age.

Design Review

The design of Roblox is different. Similar to Minecraft, Roblox avatars have that square body shape. I don't believe that there are any obvious limitation beside the general being nice to everyone in the game or get kicked out. There are games in Roblox that support Universal Design for learning. There are many learning games in Roblox that can help learn different skills. Depending on the type of game we are playing, the visuals are very good and fun to engage with.

Educational Value

Roblox can be used for learning by playing games that promote collaboration between players. Roblox also has Roblox studio that allows users to create their own games and this would be good for students who have an interest in game design. This would allow them to have experience with creating games and seeing how other users react to the game that they had designed.

Conclusion

Overall Roblox is a fun app that has a lot of games within it. Users can pick and choose what would like to play and even design a game. The app is even more engaging when playing with friends.
